Once you want to bring a claim for personal injury compensation, the next two questions that are most asked are "How long is it going to take?" and "How much compensation will I receive?"
The first question is almost impossible to answer at the start of a claim as each claim is different, each claim is individual and will take the amount of time that it does.
The second question is similar and cannot be answered exactly at the start of a claim as, to a very large degree, it depends on the medical evidence that is obtained later on as the claim progresses.
However, it is possible to provide a very general guide as to what a type of injury will attract in terms of the compensation that might be awarded.
The way a claim is valued is for the solicitor to look at Judicial Studies Board Guidelines and earlier cases with similar injuries to see that level of damages awarded in cases that are basically similar. These figures are then used as a guideline.
Please remember that this is just a very rough guide – as to what kind of award might be made for a particular type of injury.
At the risk of repetition, please be aware that these figures are merely illustrative and intended only to give you a rough idea as to what your claim might be worth. They are in no way intended to represent legal advice as to what your particular claim might be worth or what amount of compensation you can expect in your particular claim. Remember, every case is different.
