Whitestone Solicitors have been invited to the HRH Pakistan Recovery Fund Gala dinner to be issued with a Silver Medal for their contribution and support towards the organisation; who’s patron is Prince Charles in December 2011.
The HRH Pakistan Recovery Fund seeks to support the recovery of communities in flood-affected areas by building homes, re-establishing education, reviving livelihoods and restoring human health.
In a country already gripped with socio-economic problems, the plight of the Pakistani people has worsened, and is worsening still. Many struggle to survive. Basic necessities – food, clothing and shelter – are lacking. In some areas, almost one quarter of children under five are malnourished. Chronic poverty, disease, displacement and torment threaten the region.
With millions of acres of land ravaged, livestock dead, and infrastructure ruined, there is a pressing humanitarian need to support the long-term recovery of the country and to respond to the needs of individuals, families and communities. The situation is grave – and the need for action is urgent.
Placing strong emphasis on transparency, quality control and impact measurement, the Fund will select quality delivery partners, high impact projects and tightly managed and monitored programmes in order to ensure that donations are wisely and efficiently spent.
By match funding all partner donations, the fund aims to double the impact of every donation made, in the areas of Education, Health, Livelihoods and Homes for the people affected in Pakistan.

Our man, footballer-turned boxer Curtis Woodhouse made a strong statement to his domestic rivals with a razor sharp fourth-round stoppage victory over fighter Gary McArthur at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on the 26th of November. Woodhouse (10st 2lb 1/2oz) was had an 11th hour change of fighters as the scheduled fight with ex-European lightweight champion Jason Cook fell through as Cook was forced to pull out of the contest on medical grounds, however the late change of opponent didn't disrupt Curtis ‘Whitestone Warrior’ Woodhouse in any way.
Southpaw Gary McArthur (10st 5lb) was on the back foot from the very start of the fight, and Curtis made sure it stayed that way throughout the contest. McArthur, although a very capable fighter, found Woodhouse too much to handle as he landed a barrage of punches. The ever-improving Woodhouse will always remembered as an 'ex-footballer' but his skills in the ring are sending shockwaves through the boxing fraternity.
Woodhouse (now 16-3) hopes that the fight with Jason Cook can be re-arranged for 2012, but the clash for Theophane's British title in December, is high on his agenda.
In the post-fight interview, Woodhouse dismissed claims that he should fight the new English welterweight champion Adil Anwar saying “If he wants to fight me, tell him to ring my manager. I'll knock anybody out at 10st"
